This double-ditch KGA has two entrances. The western entrance does not allow a view straight from the KGA center towards sunset. From an off-center point we can observe sunsets in the range 268-273° which includes an equinox sunset, observable at 268° in 2° altitude. While this fact is an argument for an equinox orientation, this direction is regarded “difficult” in the more recent literature, as it would have required a tally of days and or geometric constructions. The other entrance does not show any correlation with typical solar or lunar key dates.
The connection between the entrances in this case is quite far from the current slope line. However, the flat slope may have changed its orientation due to erosion processes over the long-time agricultural use of the field.
